Changes

A further change we decided to make was changing the age rating of No More from an 18 to a 15. Myself, Abbie and Niall all agreed that our film does not fit the bracket of 18 and is more suited to the lower age rating of 15. This is because our trailer contains no visible blood, gore or violence so we believe it is age appropriate for people aged 15. Also, some of our film is set in a school and schools are associated with teenagers. We therefore wanted to lower our age rating as our film would be more relatable to younger people due to the setting.

Settings

The first setting we have used in our film trailer
is St Neots Secondary School. The school setting is unconventional in thriller films however is relatable to our target audience as teenagers spend the majority of their time in school. Another reason why we wanted to feature a school is because recently there have been many school shootings. This therefore creates a sense of fear and realism within our trailer. We decided to use Longsands Academy as St Neots Secondary School as it was easily accessible to us because it is the school myself, Abbie and Niall attend. We have two different settings within the academy. The first is a social area. This setting is used in the first shot of our film trailer. We decided to use this part of the school as it fits in perfectly with our vision for the first scene. The first scene is Zac and Stacey are doing what best friends do and are having a catch up. The other location within the school that we decided to use is the boys school toilets.

Another setting we are using is Zac Lane and Mrs Lane's house. This is to create a sense of realism within our film trailer. We used Abbie's house as Zac and Mrs Lanes house as it was the most accessible to all of us and allowed us to make our vision a reality in terms of the camera shots, angles, equipment etc.

Another setting that features in our thriller trailer is Stacey's bedroom. We decided to use this setting as it creates a sense of realism and also makes our trailer relatable to the audience. This is because, like the school, teenagers spend a lot of time in their bedrooms. This will therefore make them want to watch the trailer. Bedrooms are very private to the individual and is a place to unwind. This therefore helps to create an emotive feeling throughout our trailer. Bedrooms are common conventions in thriller films and trailers and appear in films such as Before I Go To Sleep, Girl On The Train and Gone Girl.

Another setting we have used in our trailer is a graveyard. Graveyards connote grieving and sadness, which are both emotions we wanted to be portrayed in No More. We used St Neots Cemetery for this as it was accessible to us all and with it being so large, enabled us to get the shots we wanted.

Another setting used in No More is priory park. Priory park is a large field/ woods located in the centre of St Neots. We wanted to use this as it they are conventional in thriller films and appear in movies such as Girl On The Train and Unforgettable.

Another setting in our trailer is the Detectives Office. The Detectives Office connotes seriousness and brings a sense of drama to our trailer which is conventional in thriller trailers. We used a desk in my house and dimmed the lighting to make it look more like a detectives office. The mise en scene also helped it to look like a detectives office as props include a laptop, a folder, a pen and notepad and a telephone; all things that a detective would have on their desk.

Music and Sound Choices

The website myself and Abbie used to decide on music and sound is called BeatSuite.com. We were able to access a wide variety of music from all different genres.

We narrowed our choices down to 5 possibilities. These music choices were called Dark Undertow, Journey Into Darkness, Hiding In The Dark, Broken Promises and I'm Watching You. We thought that all of these would fit in well with the story line of our trailer however, using all 5 would not be effective.

In the end, the final choices were I'm watching you, Journey Into Darkness and Dark Undertow.

Dark Undertow will be used at the start of our trailer as it is quite slow paced and helps to create suspense and build up the drama.

Journey Into Darkness will be used throughout the middle and majority of our trailer. This is because it is fast paced so it fits in with our fast paced editing. This is to connote chaos and confusion and will keep these emotions going the whole way through.

I'm Watching You will be played at the very end of our trailer when the flowers are picked up and the petals are picked off. This will enhance the drama as there is an obvious change in the music which will leave the audience intrigued and therefore leave them wanting to watch the whole film.
